Claire Daly is currently the Downbeat Critic Poll’s “Rising Star on Baritone” (since 2003!). She has won the Jazz Journalist Baritonist of the Year award and has released 7 CDs as a leader. Her most recent one “Mary Joyce Project: Nothing to Lose,” has garnered critical praise and was premiered in Juneau, Alaska in May ’11. Besides being a resident artist at the Litchfield Jazz Camp since 2000, Claire teaches at the Middle School Jazz Academy at Jazz at Lincoln Center and privately in NYC. She is spearheading the “Litchfield in New York” combo program.
Claire’s latest CD features her saxophone and flute playing, in a piece written in honor of her second cousin, Mary Joyce, who made a 1,000 mile dogsled trip from Juneau to Fairbanks in 1935-1936.
